Members’ vote on the mutualisation of risk related to terrorism liabilities

The vote is open until 19 July 2018. It is imperative that every vote or non-vote is a conscious decision by the insurer - not a missed opportunity to express a choice.

A written resolution was issued to members on 21 June 2018 in response to the MIB Members’ consultation on terrorism liabilities. The resolution has been put to members to change the Articles of Association of the Company.

The new Articles of Association exclude from the liability of the Article 75 insurer, claims arising from the use of a vehicle as part of an act of terrorism for events on or after 1 January 2019. The outcome of the vote will affect all members.

Members should only vote if they are in favour of adopting the new Articles. Members who are not in favour should not vote. It is therefore imperative that every vote or non-vote is a conscious decision by the insurer and not a missed opportunity to express a choice.

Votes must be returned by the end of 19 July 2018. The change will be approved if 75% of the membership (by voting rights) vote in favour of the change.
