23 July 2018 - Motor insurers writing business in the UK have voted to mutualise the risks associated with terrorism claims. MIB will deal with all third party motor claims where terrorists driving vehicles injure or kill people on or after 1 January 2019. The market will continue to fund MIB through a levy.
Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) in conjunction with Police enforcement activity is systematically driving down uninsured driving.
MIB handles over 20,000 claims against uninsured and untraced motorists every year and endeavours to settle them fairly and promptly.
The MID is the only central record of all insured vehicles in the UK and is updated daily by all UK insurers.
