CEO Dominic Clayden 'hugely proud' as MIB's scope and impact is highlighted in Annual Report & Accounts 2022

MIB (Motor Insurers’ Bureau) has published its Annual Report and Accounts 2022 – the round-up of the previous year’s achievements, challenges and milestones.

The report contains some stand-out stats that show the impact of MIB’s work last year.

  • MIB helped more than 42,000 people injured by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers rebuild their lives – that’s a record number for MIB.*
  • Almost 80% of uninsured drivers contacted as part of Operation Tutelage bought an insurance policy after the intervention.
  • More than 1 billion enquiries were made across MIB’s data services.
  • MIB helped police to seize 123,000 uninsured vehicles through its Police Helpline and Motor Insurance Database.

Additionally, the AR&A 2022 shows almost 90% of MIB’s key performance indicators were on or above target – a fantastic achievement in another challenging year.

MIB’s chairman Mike Crane introduces the Annual Report and Accounts 2022, saying:

"In my first full year as Chair, I was proud to be part of the insurance industry’s long-standing commitment to working with MIB to support people injured by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers.

“Operation Tutelage continued to make a significant difference in protecting people from the terrible cost of uninsured driving. In 2022 alone, our work together helped the police seize more than 123,000 uninsured vehicles.”

And MIB CEO Dominic Clayden shares the highlights and challenges of 2022 in the report:

“I’m hugely proud of the progress MIB continues to make in protecting people from the devastation of uninsured and hit-and-run driving. And that, every day, our people are working to help their innocent victims rebuild their lives.

“An uncertain environment driven by inflation, climate change and war in Ukraine made 2022 another challenging year for families and businesses.

“Here at MIB, the progress we have made in reducing our operating costs and evolving our culture helped mitigate the impact of these difficult conditions.”
