We are delighted to formally welcome Mike Crane as our new chairman. 

Mike has been part of MIB’s board since 2018, playing a key part in the development of MIB’s long-term strategy. He brings more than 30 years’ experience within the insurance industry. He is the Managing Director of LV= Broker and CEO of L&G General Insurance whilst the business fully integrates in to LV=.

During the last few years, Mike has been heavily involved in business transformation with the successful transfer of portfolios from Allianz and Legal & General. 

He has over 30 years’ experience within the insurance industry with a strong underwriting background, having started his career with Commercial Union in the late 1980s, Mike worked his way into senior positions across personal and commercial insurance product lines, including at Aviva and RBS Insurance before joining LV=.

Mike has executive responsibility for Diversity and Inclusion for LVGIG and is an Engagement Board Member (Personal Lines) of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

He is married with two children and lives in Hampshire.

Mike replaces Steve Maddock who has led the MIB Board since 2014. Under Steve’s oversight, and together with our members and partners, we’ve achieved more than we ever thought possible – making roads safer, helping innocent victims of uninsured and hit-and-run drivers rebuild their lives, and protecting people from insurance fraud. And at a time when the insurance market is changing faster than ever, we delivered a substantial programme of technological and cultural reforms that will benefit the people and organisations we support for many years to come.
