MIB and FSCS warn Gable Insurance policyholders to get a new policy
23 December 2016
MIB has been working with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) to identify customers at risk, following the default of Gable Insurance.
All motor insurance policies underwritten by Gable Insurance are now invalid and MIB will be contacting all policyholders where no record of a replacement policy can be found on the MID (Motor Insurance Database), to ensure they purchase a new policy with another insurer.
It is the responsibility of all policyholders to ensure that they have adequate insurance for their vehicle, so that they don’t find themselves subject to enforcement. MIB, which compensates the victims of uninsured driving and assists the police and DVLA with insurance enforcement, will be writing to those identified individuals who have not yet purchased a replacement policy, to remind them to buy a new insurance policy as soon as possible.
Neil Drane, Head of Enforcement Services at MIB said, “It’s important that all policyholders who have a motor policy with Gable Insurance must now find cover elsewhere. MIB and FSCS are working together to make those policyholders who are affected aware and ensure they take steps to get a new policy in place to avoid driving without insurance.”
Further information about Gable Insurance (including the refunding of premiums) can be found on the FSCS website.
