The IFB continued to increase awareness and reporting of crash for cash scams

The IFB (Insurance Fraud Bureau) continued working alongside insurers and the police to crack down on crash for cash with a focus on public awareness and reporting through CheatLine, the IFB's confidential reporting service.

Here are just a few of the ways we've supported IFB's members in recent months:

We supported Allianz in warning the public about crash for cash scams

Allianz reported a sharp rise in moped and motorbike-related scams and released a list of hotspots based on claims data. The story resulted in significant media coverage, including The Sunday Times, The Guardian, and The Daily Express.

We helped highlight crash for cash as part of a debate in parliament

When MP Elliot Colburn received concerning reports from constituents in Carshalton and Wallington, his office contacted the IFB for insights. We then worked with the ABI (Association of British Insurers) to gather information in support of a debate in parliament, where the security Minister, Tom Guden, reaffirmed the government's support for tackling the problem and highlighted the role of the IFB's campaign in tackling crash for cash moped scams.

We worked with IFED to crack down on moped gangs

Supported by IFB intelligence, IFED (the Insurance Fraud Department), and Trading Standards visited five moped garages in the capital. Three mopeds were seized, and an arrest was made. The visits sent a clear message to offenders and created opportunities for further intelligence.
