Welcome back to Engage

In this issue, we bring you the latest on Navigate, our Enforcement Programme, an insight into our work on cross-border and Green Card, and more great results from the IFB (Insurance Fraud Bureau) and ELTO (the Employers' Liability Tracing Office).

June 2024

We delivered a more modern and efficient claims service for victims of uninsured and hit-and-run driving

At the end of 2022, we announced the biggest-ever package of improvements to our claims service. Our goal was to create a quicker, easier and more efficient experience for our customers and to limit the need to contact us to the most complex cases. Today, we're seeing the benefits of those improvements.

Navigate Go Live launched a new era for our data services for insurers, the police and the public

Replatforming the Motor Insurance Database (MID) to Navigate – our new modern cloud platform - was the first significant milestone in our programme to provide modern data services to support insurers and help the police make roads safer.

New FCA rules are a positive step forward for ELTO members

After months of refining and testing the solution with the support of members, we are pleased to share that we have agreed on a new process that will allow ELTO (the Employers' Liability Tracing Office) to source ERNs directly from HMRC.

Angus Eaton joins as CEO from 1 July

In case you missed it, our CEO, Dominic Clayden, will be leaving MIB this week, and Angus Eaton will join us from Hastings Direct.

An update from our Enforcement Programme

As part of our mission to keep people safe by getting uninsured drivers off the roads, in October 2023, we announced an additional £5 million investment in our Enforcement Programme.

Operation Tutelage: How it works

Operation Tutelage is a national policing initiative, led by the NPCC's National Roads Policing Operations, Intelligence and Investigation (NRPOII) and funded by MIB. It was introduced nationally in January 2020 to help reduce uninsured driving levels across the UK.

We helped maintain the relationships that keep Britons moving

In June, we hosted the COB (Council of Bureaux) General Assembly, bringing together colleagues from 50 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East to help maintain frictionless travel across the regions.

The IFB continued to increase awareness and reporting of crash for cash scams

The IFB (Insurance Fraud Bureau) continued working alongside insurers and the police to crack down on crash for cash with a focus on public awareness and reporting through CheatLine, the IFB's confidential reporting service.

We were shortlisted at the British Insurance Awards

We were recognised for our role in helping insurers proactively support their customers after the fire at Luton Airport last year. MIB's unique position in the industry meant we were able to provide data to our insurance colleagues to enable them to quickly reach their customers and settle over 1,000 claims.

We joined our members at the BIBA Annual Conference

We met our industry colleagues from MDS, Markerstudy, and Towergate (to name a few) at this year's BIBA (British Insurance Brokers' Association) Conference. We also spoke to new firms looking to join the IFB and discussed the current market and how insurers are responding to emerging risks.
