We make roads safer.
We help rebuild lives.
We protect people from insurance fraud.

Imagine a world where information is shared so efficiently that no one has to suffer the consequences of an uninsured driver. A world where the fear, the uncertainty, the suffering and the injustice are a distant memory.

Our plan for 2021 is putting the steps in place so that world can, one day, become a reality.

It’s time to finish what we started

Today, hundreds of lives will be changed by uninsured drivers and insurance fraudsters. People like you with families, hopes and dreams.

We’re working to make sure it doesn’t have to be that way, making changes together to help create an insurance market where the dishonest minority have nowhere to hide.

And until we do, we’ll continue to be here for the people who need us.

You think you are immortal until something like this happens to you

“Coming close to death is a strange experience because it makes you realise how much you like life. I remember flying through the air, hitting the road and feeling my ribs break.

“It’s reassuring to know there’s an organisation out there to help people like me who are involved in these dreadful incidents.”

Adrian

I’ve seen the life-changing impact of uninsured drivers

“We were called to attend a serious injury. A mother had crossed the road with her young children and the children were struck by an uninsured driver. Sadly, they now have life-changing injuries that mean they will need care and treatment for the rest of their lives. It’s stories like these that show how important it is that we continue working with MIB to keep uninsured drivers off the roads.”

Together, we’re keeping people safe from organised crime

“The Insurance Fraud Bureau’s specialist knowledge, counter-fraud intelligence and extensive contacts within the insurance industry were integral to our ability to protect the public from individuals who would otherwise have put more lives at risk.”

It’s time to deliver the benefits of your investment

In these challenging times, the changes we promised as part of our transformation programme are needed more than ever.

The last two years were about building the foundations for the modern organisation you want to see. Investing in the technologies we need for the future, modernising our claims services, and building a community where improving what we do is a normal part of every day.

And so, with most of these improvements now in place, our plan for 2021 is about delivering on the priorities that matter to you.

LEANER. FASTER. BETTER.
Our six priorities for 2021
1
Deliver a fantastic customer experience

Despite everything we’ve achieved, we know there are some areas where innovation hasn’t been fast enough. As a result, some of our services, developed over many years, are now in need of modernisation if we are to deliver the services and experience you need. With digital at the core, we are determined to develop world-class claims, data and fraud solutions. In 2021, we will create a detailed plan of what we think needs to change to make that a reality. As part of our commitment to engage with you, we’ll be reaching out to you to help shape how and when this modernisation happens.

2
Deliver on our commitment to the whiplash reforms

As an organisation built on a collective desire for social justice, we’re proud to play our part in the government’s whiplash reforms. Official Injury Claim is expected to reduce the cost of fraudulent motor claims passed on to honest policyholders through higher insurance premiums. Due to the unprecedented impact of Covid-19, the government has had to make a decision to delay launching the service until May 2021. In the meantine, we’ll be focusing on the last few improvements required to deliver a high-quality experience for everyone using the service.

3
Continue to evolve the culture of MIB

We have always believed that a progressive culture is key to creating the modern organisation you want to see. We also want our people to grow and develop with the business. And so, we’ll continue our redesign of the organisation, making sure we have the right people in the right roles, cutting back on the things that slow us down; and continuing to support our brilliant people to achieve more every day.

4
Embed transformation into business as usual

In these challenging times, delivering for the people who need us matters more than ever. And so, while our transformation programme may be over, the evolution of MIB continues. Protecting our organisation from fast-moving security threats, delivering a modern online claims service for the victims of uninsured drivers; and continuing to create a culture where innovation and change are a normal part of the work we do.

5
Minimise disruption to our members and UK residents after Brexit

We’ll continue to challenge the integration of Vnuk into UK law, an EU ruling that could make MIB liable for thousands more claims every year. The good news is that we have now negotiated thirty bilateral agreements to make sure UK residents injured in accidents in the European Economic Area will continue to have access to compensation after Brexit.

6
Reduce the annual cost of running MIB

At a time when millions of businesses are being forced to make difficult decisions just to keep going, bringing down the cost of our services isn’t just what you expect – it’s the right thing to do. And so, building on the progress we’ve made through our transformation programme, we’re making a commitment to reduce our operating costs. This will be achieved in a variety of ways, including more cost-effective ways of working and increased automation.

That’s not all we’ve got planned for 2021. Download our full plan here.
